  • 1 cup of softened butter

  • 4 cups of powdered sugar

  • 3/4 cup of cocoa powder

  • 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons of milk

  • Pinch of salt


  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix the butter and vanilla on medium-high speed for 8 minutes.

  2. Next, add the powdered sugar slowly until completely combined. Add in the milk and beat for 1 minute until smooth.

  3. Now add the cocoa powder and salt and mix for 4 minutes until all air bubbles are gone.

  4. Now your chocolate buttercream frosting is ready to go.
